Isabel Bay Design is named after a place "Isabel Bay" (not a person): a remote, secluded, wild destination in Malaspina Inlet, Desolation Sound, British Columbia, Canada. I visited this beautiful bay periodically as a child/teenager while sailing the Gulf Islands and Desolation Sound with my family for 18 years. This was and still is my favorite spot on earth.
Accessable only by boat, this small half-moon shaped bay is completed and protected by two small islands; one of which grows only moss, grasses, small shrubs, wild flowers and one lone pine tree, which over the years has grown to look like an oversized Bonsai. Stunted by lack of dirt, pummelled by wild storms and raging winds up the inlet, this tree has tenaciously grown beautifully slow and crooked and has become the logo for my business. Below is a photo of my Mother and myself (around age 8 or 10) on the island in the late 1960s/early 70s, with the end of Malaspina Inlet behind us.
Adrienne Robineau, Graphic Designer/Owner: My background in design is long and varied. I have been working as a graphic designer since 1990. I've lived in the Pacific Northwest for over 49 years, graduated from Cornish College of the Arts with a BA in Graphic Design in 1992 where I benefited from the instruction of Lucy Goodman, Katy Homans, Dean Williams, Richard Kehl, Jim Koss, Sharon Mentyka, and most of all, Phil Kovacevich. My extensive and diverse background in Web design, software design, and traditional print design comes from 2 years at one of the top design firms in Seattle and the Northwest, 5 years at an innovative Seattle software company, 4 years at one of Seattle's most successful small Web design companies and 20 years freelancing. —Adrienne Robineau [Ay-dree-en rub-bean-noh ∼ tip: use equal emphasis on every syllable.]
